Jammu and Kashmir consists of three regions: Jammu, Kashmir valley and Laddakh.
Srinagar is the summer capital, and Jammu, its winter capital. Kashmir valley is known as real Paradise on Earth and is well-known for its attractive mountainous landscape.

Laddakh, also known as "Little Tibet", is renowned for its far-flung mountain exquisiteness and Buddhist culture.
Jammu and Kashmir came into existence when the Mughal Emperor Akbar invaded Kashmir in 1586. Jammu and Kashmir is a place of several valleys such as the Kashmir Valley, Tawi Valley, Chenab Valley, Poonch Valley, Sind Valley and Lidder Valley. The Himalayas divide the Kashmir valley from Laddakh.
In Jammu and Kashmir, the main spoken languages are Kashmiri, Urdu, Dogri, Pahari, Balti, Laddakh, Punjabi, Gojri and Dadri, Kishtwari. Urdu written in the Persian script is the official language of the state and Hindi or English are the languages of the state.
Jammu and Kashmir's economy is primarily dependent on agriculture and related activities. Agriculture brings the state a handsome amount of foreign exchange. Agricultural exports from Jammu and Kashmir include Kashmiri saffron, apples, barley, cherries, corn, millet, oranges, rice, peaches, pears, saffron, sorghum, vegetables, and wheat, while manufactured exports include handicrafts, rugs, and shawls.
